Course Description

It covers history, principles, theories and developmental studies of psychology.

CMT 104: Psychopathology and Mental Disorders

Course Description

This is a comprehensive study of problems related to mental health. It explores symptoms, causes, classification and treatment of mental illness.

 

It covers a wide range of conditions that affect the way we think, feel or behave.

CMT 103: Principles of Counselling

Course Description

This course is designed to empower you with knowledge and tools in counselling. It provides a framework for counsellors to operate within and apply in counselling situations. It introduces the concept, trace the history and significance of counselling.

 

The principles of counselling (generally and in counselling process) are also outlined.

CMT 203: Crisis Counselling

Course Description

This course is designed to help students to develop advanced skills in crisis counselling. The course will equip students to gain the essential knowledge and expertise required to effectively support individuals facing various crisis situations, including but not limited to trauma, addiction, suicidal tendencies and behaviours, and other high-stress scenarios.

CMT 302: Theories of Marriage and Family

Course Description

The course recognizes and identifies the theories and approaches related to marriage and family. It deals with theories such as Ecological, Symbolic interaction, Social exchange, Structural functionalism, Conflict and Family systems theory, and so on.

 

It also covers the relationship between Marriage and family.

CMT 201: Psychological Assessment and Issues of Tests in Counselling

Course Description

This course focuses on explaining what psychological assessment and test are, the differences, classification of tests, uses, types and principles of assessment.

CMT 303: Pre-Marital Counselling

Course Description

This is a course designed to equip students to better handle people who are about to enter into marriage. It provides students with the requisite knowledge, insight and skills for preparing couples for a successful marriage.

 

Students are equipped to help would-be couples to gain better understanding of themselves and their expectations.

CMT 105: Ethical and Legal Issues in Counselling Practice

Course Description

This course looks at concepts, principles, values, rules and laws in counselling practice. It deals with the professional standard of practice / conduct.

 

It also describes the relationship between ethics and the law.

CMT 301:  Love, Sex and Marriage

Course Description

This course explores the concepts; love, sex and marriage. It includes the relationship between Love and Sex, Marriage and Sex, and Marriage and Love.
